Berend Strijland

Berend Strijland is an architect and partner at NLÉ, working with a team of architects on a day-to-day basis in the Amsterdam office. At NLÉ since 2012, he has been involved the design and development of a wide range of acclaimed projects across three continents, such as the Serpentine Summer House, Black Rhino Academy, Prelude to the Shed, and Makoko Floating School in Lagos, Nigeria as well as the later versions in Venice, Bruges, Chengdu and Mindelo. Recent works include a cultural installation in the Netherlands, educational and healthcare facilities in Zimbabwe, and a hotel, sports and commercial complex in Rwanda. He has lectured at institutions such as LUMA Arles, SAIC Chicago and Harvard GSD amongst others, studied at the UIC Chicago School of Architecture and holds a degree from Technical University Delft in Architecture and Building Engineering.
