Defining impact naturally extended from that awareness. For Kunlé, a project’s impact stems from the significant value added to human life and the environment. “How much change is registered, either within people or the environment,” he adds.
Gearing that gauge of impact towards encouraging young architects, Kunlé suggests truly understanding the context where one is operating. Places vary and are unique in their social issues, some places are much more engaging than others.
“Think about real issues. Think about challenges the people have if you address them from a point of authenticity,” he asserts. “When [Projects] are driven by real needs and real resources, you create a lot more impact.”
